Home / Baking / Chocolate Energy Bars

These came out so much better than I expected!! No baking required, no added sugar, and so chocolatey. Both kids LOVED them.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to ramble on about how this recipe is an old family favourite, passed down through the generations, blah blah, potato, then one day an amazing thing happened.

Nah. I’m just gonna give you the recipe.

150g oats (I used Pams Rolled Oats)

3 scoops (90g) Chocolate Whey Protein Powder  (I used NZ Muscle Chocolate Cake flavour)

2 TBSP Dark Cacao (I actually used Cadbury Dark Cocoa, no cacao in the house)

30g Chopped Almonds (I used Graze Raw Almonds)

30g Desiccated Coconut

30g Pumpkin Seeds

6 TBSP Maple Syrup (I used Pams Finest)

75g Peanut Butter (I used Pics Crunchy Peanut Butter)

50ml Water

Now what? Well, it’s pretty simple, really.

Stick it all in a bowl, mix it all up. I found I needed a little more maple syrup than this in the end, as the mixture was a little dry. Line a slice tray with baking paper, stick it all in, smooth it down (I used a spoon to flatten it out)

Then stick it in the fridge to set for at least an hour. I have found it stayed quite soft, so probably best it lives in the fridge.

Chop up into 16 pieces and enjoy!
